USCIS Announces H-1B Electronic Registration Window

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

On December 6, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced the implementation of the new H-1B visa electronic filing system for the 2020 H-1B cap. According to the news release, employers planning to file H-1B petitions must first register electronically and pay the associated $10 fee. The initial registration period will be between March 1 and March 20, 2020.

If the agency deems it necessary, USCIS may open an additional registration period if not enough registrations are received to meet the determined allocations. The release states that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will publish a Federal Registrar notice in the coming weeks to provide details on the registration process. As soon as these instructions are available, we will post updates here regarding what employers need to know.
